A unique design encloses the electric motor entirely within the base of these self-tailing winches. With no motor to install and attach below the mounting surface, installation is a breeze. No more motors underdeck hanging in the way. The motor used is a high efficiency, variable speed unit with a high linespeed and good traction. A second, lower profile, version of this winch is available with a drive extension which allows placement of the motor below the mounting surface, but still with its unique, compact shape - making it particularly unobtrusive below deck. Both models are shown.

- There are no extra control boxes and only 3 cables out of the unit, resulting in the smallest dimensions available in a motorized winch
- The unit itself consists of 2 compartments: a completely sealed, water resistant motor compartment, and a gear compartment specially designed for easy access and maintenance
- The motor is built on an entirely new commutator principle using no carbon brushes, resulting in the virtual elimination of wear and tear; this new approach to motors also provides other advantages, including a power consumption 30-50% lower than that of a normal electric unit
- Weight is reduced to approximately 50% that of a standard electric unit
